Sprint + Focus modes: timed writing + Zen-like UI

Last updated May 29, 2026 · 4 min read

Sprint mode = timed focused writing. Focus mode = Zen-like, hide all UI. Combined, they help you "force yourself to finish in one sitting".

Slima Script Studio Write view top "Sprint" mode toggle — enters focused writing mode

Sprint mode

Set a timer (e.g. 25-min Pomodoro) — in Write view, Slima:

  • Shows a countdown timer
  • Notifies when done (sound / visual)
  • Counts how many words you wrote during the sprint and your average pace
  • Danger Mode (optional): pause for 10s and you get a warning; pause for 15s and it deletes the last line you wrote, pushing you to keep going

Start

Write view toolbar → "Sprint" → a dialog with just two settings:

  • Duration: 5 / 10 / 15 / 25 minutes
  • Mode: Normal vs Danger Mode (Danger Mode deletes your last line if you stall)

End

Notification + stats:

  • Wrote N words
  • Average X words / minute

Focus mode

Focus mode is toggled with keyboard shortcuts (there is no Focus button in the Write toolbar):

  • F11: Zen mode — hide all panels, go full screen, leave just your text + the status line
  • Ctrl + Shift + 1: sentence focus (only the current sentence stays full color, the rest dims)
  • Ctrl + Shift + 2: scene focus (only the current scene stays full color, the rest dims)

In Zen mode (F11):

  • Hides left activity bar + floating toolbar + side panels
  • Editor max width
  • Solid black / white background (per theme)
  • Leaves: your text + minimal status info

Exit: press F11 again to return to the normal view.

Vs Writing Studio Zen Mode

Writing Studio Zen Mode is the equivalent in Writing Studio. Script Studio Focus is conceptually similar.

Sprint + Focus combo

Strongest pairing:

  1. Sprint 25 min (pick Danger Mode if you want the pressure)
  2. Press F11 for Zen mode (no UI distraction)
  3. Write
  4. At the end, see your word count and average pace

Powerful for "must finish E3 climax scene" must-be-done work.

Integration with motivation

Sprint-completed words count toward Streak / HabitPlant tree — same as regular writing.

Consecutive sprint hits may earn special badges / visual encouragement (depending on Slima version).
