Hierarchy navigation: breadcrumb + Season / Episode dropdowns

Last updated June 4, 2026 · 3 min read

Script Studio is a 4-level hierarchy (Series → Season → Episode → Scene) — easy to get lost in large works. Hierarchy navigation (breadcrumb + Season / Episode dropdowns + keyboard nav) keeps your bearings.

Slima Script Studio Planning tab Seasons & Episodes, showing the Season / Episode hierarchy structure

Breadcrumb

Top toolbar's left side shows current position:

Each segment opens an action, not a navigation jump: clicking the book-title segment opens the screenplay's quick settings (rename / type / target); clicking the Season or Episode segment opens its dropdown picker to switch the current season / episode.

Season / Episode switching

Next to the breadcrumb:

  • Episode / Season toggle (Scenes view): switch between Episode-view or Season-view
  • Season ▼ dropdown: all seasons
  • Episode ▼ dropdown: episodes in the current season

One click to a different season / episode.

Same data, different scales

  • Series view: Plan view top (whole-work logline)
  • Season view: Plan view scoped to one season
  • Episode view: Scenes view scoped to one episode
  • Scene view: Write view, single scene editor

Each level aggregates relevant data (character appearances, storyline progress, scene counts).

Keyboard navigation

Switch episodes from the dropdown at the top of the Write view; manage the season/episode structure in the Planning tab.

Vs Writing Studio

Writing Studio is flat (Chapters + Notes), no 4-level hierarchy. Breadcrumb in Writing Studio is just 2 levels (Book / Chapter).
