Creating notes: entry points and the three types

Last updated May 19, 2026 · 2 min read

Notes in the Notes tab are created mainly by right-clicking a scene element or clicking +. Each note is one of three types: Note, Todo, or Foreshadow Tracking.

Slima Script Studio Notes tab: a three-column board (Note / Todo / Foreshadow Tracking) with the empty-state prompt "Right-click a scene element or click + to start"

How to create a note

When a Notes column is empty it prompts: "No notes yet. Right-click a scene element or click + to start." Two starting points:

  • Right-click a scene element: in the Write editor, right-click a scene element (scene heading, dialogue, description, etc.) to make a note on it. A note created this way is attached to that scene.
  • Click +: add a note directly in the Notes tab.

The three note types

Every note is one of three types, matching the three columns of the "By Type" view:

  • Note: general ideas, references, remarks
  • Todo: things to handle, not yet done
  • Foreshadow Tracking: setups planted vs. payoffs (details)

Viewing and filtering

  • By Type / By Scene switches the view
  • Series / Season / Episode / All filters the scope
  • Each column header shows a count of notes of that type
