Acts customisation: rename / add / delete / reorder

Last updated June 10, 2026 · 4 min read

Scene Board arranges scenes in Acts / Beats columns. Act content is determined by your chosen structure template — but you can customise it.

Slima Script Studio Scene Board: three act columns 第一幕(設定)/第二幕(對抗)/第三幕(解決); right side has "+ Add Act"

What Acts are

Acts are Scene Board's columns in Board mode:

┌─ Act 1: Setup ─┬─ Act 2: Confront ─┬─ Act 3: Resolve ─┐
│ Scene 1 │ Scene 4 │ Scene 7 │
│ Scene 2 │ Scene 5 │ Scene 8 │
│ Scene 3 │ Scene 6 │ │
└────────────────┴───────────────────┴─────────────────┘

Each Act represents a structural phase (setup / confrontation / resolution). List mode is instead a flat sortable scene table (scene # / summary / location / INT-EXT / time / characters / storylines / duration / structure), not act columns.

Default Acts from structure templates

Three-Act template → 3 Acts.
Taiwanese TV template → 3 acts / 6 beats (mixed).
Kishotenketsu → 4 segments (Ki-Sho-Ten-Ketsu).
Freytag's Pyramid → 3 acts (5 beats).

Customising acts

When the default doesn't fit → change act name / order / count:

Rename an Act

Click act title → edit mode → rename.

Doesn't affect scenes inside.

Add an Act

A "+ New Act" button at the end of the act row → dialog:

  • Act name

The new act is always appended as the last column.

Delete an Act

When you delete an act, the scenes inside are automatically moved to the first remaining act — nothing is lost. The last remaining act can't be deleted.

(Act deletion currently lives in the structure-template editor; the Scene Board act header shows only the name and scene count, with no ⋯ delete menu.)

Auto-version before major changes.

Reorder Acts

Act columns can't be dragged to reorder on the board today. To change the order, edit or recreate the structure template.

Save current acts as custom template

If your customised acts are worth reusing for other scripts:
