Hierarchy navigation: breadcrumb + Season / Episode dropdowns

قراءة 4 دقيقة

Script Studio is a 4-level hierarchy (Series → Season → Episode → Scene) — easy to get lost in large works. Hierarchy navigation (breadcrumb + Season / Episode dropdowns + keyboard nav) keeps your bearings.

Script Studio Plan view (The Last Night Train, TV Series) as a visual reference; hierarchy nav is most prominent at the top of Scenes / Write views

Breadcrumb

Top toolbar's left side shows current position:

Click any segment → jump to that level (e.g. click to go to that Season's overview).

Season / Episode switching

Next to the breadcrumb:

  • Episode / Season toggle (Scenes view): switch between Episode-view or Season-view
  • Season ▼ dropdown: all seasons
  • Episode ▼ dropdown: episodes in the current season

One click to a different season / episode.

Same data, different scales

  • Series view: Plan view top (whole-work logline)
  • Season view: Plan view scoped to one season
  • Episode view: Scenes view scoped to one episode
  • Scene view: Write view, single scene editor

Each level aggregates relevant data (character appearances, storyline progress, scene counts).

Keyboard navigation

Some versions have shortcuts to jump between episodes / seasons. Best way to discover: open the command palette () and search "next episode" / "previous season".

Vs Writing Studio

Writing Studio is flat (Chapters + Notes), no 4-level hierarchy. Breadcrumb in Writing Studio is just 2 levels (Book / Chapter).
