Custom structure templates: when the 4 built-ins aren't enough
If none of the 4 built-in templates (Three-Act / Taiwanese TV / Kishotenketsu / Freytag) match your story rhythm — create a custom template.

Two ways to create
Method 1: from blank
Inside the dialog, click "+ New Blank Template" → a form opens:
- Template name (e.g. "8-section chamber-drama structure")
- Description (one-liner)
- Beat structure (how many beats, what each is called)
Saved templates appear in "MY CUSTOM TEMPLATES".
Method 2: save current structure as template
If you've already arranged scenes under some structure (e.g. Three-Act) and then renamed / reordered the acts / beats — click "Save Current Structure as Template" to capture the current layout as a new template.
Reuse it later for scripts with similar rhythms.
Managing templates
The dialog's "Manage My Templates" at the bottom opens a management page where you can:
- Edit name / description / beat structure
- Delete unwanted templates
- Reorder
When this fits
- Specific genre rhythms: Netflix-style 6-act, Webtoon 30-chapter
- Personal style: written 3 works with the same idiosyncratic rhythm → make it a personal template
- Production team conventions: a studio's outline rules → shared team template (via export / import)
Templates aren't enforced
Like built-in templates — custom templates are visual column suggestions only. Scenes can be dragged across any act / beat; templates can be swapped or restructured mid-project.
