First launch: sign in, consent, and landing on your bookshelf
Last updated May 29, 2026 · 4 min read
The first time you open Slima — from the website or your first sign-in — you land on a start screen, not straight in the editor. This article covers what's on that screen and where you end up after you sign in.

The first screen: getting started
The first time you reach Slima, you see a clean start screen:
- One-line pitch: "AI-powered writing tool for creative writers"
- Three highlights: cloud sync across devices, works offline, AI-assisted writing
- Trial promo: a free Pro trial on sign up (full AI features, no credit card required — length on the Plans page)
- Language picker: choose your interface language first if you want
Two ways in:
- Continue with Google — signs you in; your work syncs to the cloud and AI features are available
- Start without account — you can write right away, but data is saved on this device only and AI features are unavailable
"Start without account" is good for trying the feel. Sign in any time later to sync across devices or use AI.
Terms and privacy
The bottom of the screen reads "By signing in, you agree to our Terms of Service," with links to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy — so signing in is your agreement to the terms. There's no separate consent form blocking the way.
If the terms change later, Slima shows a confirmation dialog asking you to re-confirm. It's titled "Slima respects your copyright and privacy" and lists our promises:
- We do not use your content to train AI
- We do not transfer ownership of your work
- Cloud data is encrypted in transit and at rest
- You have the right to delete your data anytime
Tick "I have read and agree to the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy" and click "I agree." See the Privacy Policy and AI training policy for details.
Where you land
After signing in you go straight to the Writing Studio bookshelf (titled "My Works"). This is your daily home base: book cards, a top "Continue Writing" button that jumps back to your most recent book, and the motivation card top-right.
Writing Studio is the default. To write a screenplay or run an AI read, the Slima logo top-left lets you switch Studios any time.
What to do next
- Pick your Studio: what each of the three Studios is for
- Set up your writing habit: the "Set Up My Writing Habit" button on the bookshelf's motivation card runs a 4-step wizard
- Guided tours: the first time you open each screen, a tour walks you through it
