AI panel tab bar: switch between chat and chapter analysis

Last updated May 15, 2026 · 3 min read

At the very top of the right-hand AI panel there's a thin tab bar — an AI Chat tab on the left, four chapter-analysis buttons in the middle, and AI Memory on the right. It shows whenever the AI panel is open and you have a file open.

Where it is

It isn't a component you switch on by itself — it appears at the top of the right-hand panel whenever you open the AI Chat or Chapter Analysis panel (and have a file open). Close the AI panel and the bar goes with it.

What's on the bar

Left to right:

Button Use
AI Chat Switch to the AI chat panel
Pacing Scan Run pacing analysis on the current chapter
Dialogue Run dialogue analysis on the current chapter
Repetition Find repeated wording in the chapter
Consistency Check setting / plot consistency
AI Memory Open the AI Memory drawer (manage what the AI remembers about you and your books, plus custom rules)

The four analysis buttons (Pacing Scan / Dialogue / Repetition / Consistency) need a file open and go grey otherwise. Clicking one switches to the analysis panel and arms a pending run — it only runs when you press "Start analysis".

Selection-based actions like Rewrite / Expand / Shorten are not on this bar — they live in the quick-actions-on-selection menu.

Relationship to the main AI chat panel

This tab bar = the switcher at the top of the right AI panel, letting you move between "AI Chat" and "Chapter Analysis".
The panel body below = the full conversation space and analysis results.

The chat you open from the "AI Chat" tab appears in that right-hand panel.
