Episode single + bulk import to existing script book

Lectura de 4 min

Inside an existing script book, import a single Episode or multiple Episodes from external files.

Slima Script Studio Plan view as a visual reference; multi-episode import entry is usually in Series settings or Episodes list

When to use this

  • Cross-tool migration: you wrote 6 episodes in Final Draft, now moving everything into Slima
  • Missing-episode backfill: a missed episode coming in from Fountain
  • Collaborator import: a co-writer's episode files merging into the main book

Entries

Two ways:

Method 1: from inside the script book

Enter the book → Series settings or Episodes list ⋯ menu → "Import Episode".

Method 2: from "+ New Script" import branch

After selecting an import flow, choose "Add to existing script book" (instead of creating new) — pick the book and Episode position.

Single-episode import

Pick a file → Slima:

  1. Parses (same steps as single-file import)
  2. Asks insertion position (after / before Episode N in Season X / new Episode)
  3. Preview + fix-up
  4. Confirm → Episode created

Bulk import

Pick multiple files (or a folder containing multiple script files):

  • Slima lists each file's preview
  • You decide each file's destination Season / position (or new Season)
  • Confirm → batch Episodes creation

Filename pattern auto-recognition

If filenames follow a pattern (e.g. S01E01.fountain / S01E02.fountain / S01E03.fountain) — Slima may auto-place them in the corresponding Season / Episode positions.

Conflict / duplicate handling

If an imported Episode collides with an existing one (ID / position):

  • Slima asks: Overwrite / Skip / Rename / Create new
  • Default: Create new (safest)

Auto-versioning

Slima auto-versions before import. Multi-file batch creates 1-N snapshots. Recoverable from history if anything goes wrong.

Vs Bulk-import from backup

Import Episode Bulk-import from backup
Source Word / PDF / Fountain / txt .slima backup files
Result Add to existing Series Create new Series
Version history preserved ❌ (external files have none) ✅ (backup contains full history)

Backup files are Slima's internal format — including full metadata + versions. Script file import only restores content.
