Search + writing stats: Search view
Lectura de 4 min
Search is the 5th view in the Page Switcher (left activity bar). Beyond full-text search across dialogue / description, it integrates writing statistics — word count / scene count / character appearances.

Full-text search
The top search box searches:
- Dialogue text: find a specific line
- Scene description: find an action beat
- Scene Heading: find scenes by location / time
- Character name: find all appearances of a character
Supports:
- Case sensitive (toggle)
- Whole word (toggle)
- Regex (toggle)
- Replace (find + replace all)
See similar Writing Studio search and replace.
Scope
| Scope | Use |
|---|---|
| Current scene | Just this scene |
| Current Episode | This episode |
| Current Season | This season |
| Whole Series (default) | The whole script |
Writing stats
Search view typically integrates a stats dashboard:
Word counts
- Whole Series total
- Per-episode counts
- Average scene length
- Dialogue vs description ratio
Structural stats
- Scenes per Episode (which episodes have too many)
- Average scene length (duration / word count)
- Character appearance frequency (extension of Appearance matrix)
Storyline distribution
- Scenes per storyline
- A-story vs B-story balance (pacing analysis)
Visualisation
Stats usually come as charts:
- Line chart: word count across episodes
- Bar chart: per-Episode comparison
- Matrix / heatmap: character × episode
AI Coach integration
The AI Coach in Script Studio reads these stats — you can ask:
- "Why does E5's dialogue ratio drop?"
- "Is A. Smith's appearance count reasonable?"
Vs Writing Studio Stats
Writing Studio Stats is motivation / habit stats (today's words / streak / heatmap).
Script Studio Search-Stats is script structural stats (scenes / episodes / characters).
Different stat sets.
