Script Outline panel: in-Write-view scene navigation

Lectura de 4 min

Script outline panel = the side outline pane in Write view. Lists short previews of every scene in the current Episode — jump anywhere without scrolling.

Slima Script Studio Plan view as a visual reference; Script outline panel sits on the left / right of Write view

Vs Writing Studio's outline

Writing Studio has an Outline panel — extracted from markdown headings.

Script Studio's outline panel concept is similar but content differs — extracted from scene structure:

Writing Studio Outline Script Studio Outline
Source Markdown # headings Scene structure (Scene Heading)
Hierarchy H1-H6 Scene number + title
Preview content Heading text INT/EXT + location + character chips
Click Jump to heading Jump to scene

Opening

Write view — usually from a left / right activity bar "outline" icon, or Cmd/Ctrl Shift O shortcut.

Exact entry varies by Slima version — check tooltip.

What Outline shows

Each outline entry typically:

  • Scene number (e.g. S01E03 #07)
  • Scene Heading (INT. LIGHTHOUSE COTTAGE - NIGHT)
  • Main character chips
  • Storyline colour stripe

Click any entry → editor jumps to that scene.

Cross-Episode switching

Outline usually shows the current Episode's scenes. For other episodes:

Vs Scene Board

Use Scene Board Script Outline
Major scene reordering ✅ (drag between acts) ⚪ (no reorder)
Fast scene jump while writing ⚪ (have to switch to Scenes view) ✅ (in Write view)
Compare episode metadata
Find storyline climax scenes ✅ (colour)

Outline is "a small navigation tool while writing"; Scene Board is "planning / structural analysis".

Hide / show

Usually from activity bar icon or Cmd/Ctrl Shift O toggle.
