Personas library: the 8 AI Beta Readers
Last updated May 27, 2026 · 4 min read
The key knob for AI Beta Readers is "pick readers" — which personas to simulate. Slima ships a fixed set of beta readers, each representing a different way of reading.

The 8 built-in readers
Each is a critic lens (a fictional character, not a real person), watching for something different:
| Reader | Lens | Cares most about |
|---|---|---|
| Alex ♂ | Logic Detective | plot holes, broken logic |
| Marcus ♂ | Sharp-Tongued Critic | very hard to impress |
| Daniel ♂ | Emotional Resonator | character chemistry and emotion |
| Leo ♂ | Lore Fanatic | worldbuilding consistency |
| Victoria ♀ | Prose Aesthete | elegance of the prose |
| Olivia ♀ | Speed Reader | impatient — drops fast |
| Mia ♀ | Casual Reader | authentic mainstream reaction |
| Nina ♀ | Foreshadowing Hunter | whether twists are earned |
Names and avatars are fictitious, just for recognition — what matters is each reader's lens.
How to pick
A few strategies:
Want the mainstream reaction
Pick Mia (casual reader) + Olivia (impatient speed reader) — closest to real bookstore readers. If even Olivia keeps going, your pacing is fine.
Want a stress test
Pick Marcus (hard to impress) + Alex (hole-catcher) — the strictest bar. Pass them and most readers will follow.
Target your book's weak spot
- Worried the world isn't clear → Leo
- Worried characters are flat → Daniel
- Worried about the prose → Victoria
- Worried twists feel unearned → Nina
Want full coverage
Just Select All 8 — the most complete multi-lens feedback.
Can I add custom personas?
Not in the current version. Different combinations of the built-in 8 already cover most lenses you'd want to test.
How many at once
How many readers you can pick per run depends on your plan — see Persona simultaneous limit and upgrade.
