Report quota and cost
Last updated June 2, 2026 · 3 min read
A reading run costs a report quota, not per-word billing. This article: how the quota works, where to see it, what happens when you run out.

The quota bar at the bottom of set-up
The bottom of the set-up screen shows this run's usage and your balance, e.g.:
6 report(s) available (This month 0/5 + bonus 1) · This reading uses 1 quota
In short: one reading usually uses 1 report quota — regardless of how many readers or which service you pick.
Where the quota comes from
- Monthly plan allowance — resets monthly per your plan (current numbers at /plans, subject to change).
- Bonus reports — e.g. inviting friends who subscribe earns extra reports.
Where to see your balance
- Bottom of the set-up screen (live, as above)
- Account → Subscription / Reports
When you run out
Out of monthly quota and want to run again → a prompt gives you options:
- Upgrade → more monthly allowance
- Wait for next month's reset
- Earn bonus reports (e.g. referrals)
Making each run count
Each reading uses one quota, so make every run worth it:
- Try a quick run or just a few readers first; go full once the direction is right
- Select only the chapters you care about (e.g. test the first few)
- Revise and rerun to compare — more useful than many scattered runs
