Select content: which chapters get read
Last updated May 29, 2026 · 3 min read
You don't have to read the whole book — first few chapters or specific ones is fine.

How to pick
The set-up screen's top-left has a chapter list:
- All checked by default
- Click any chapter → toggle
- Select all: press Ctrl/Cmd + A
- Clear the selection: press Esc, or right-click the chapter list and choose "Clear selection"
- To test only the opening, just check the first few chapters yourself (or clear the selection and tick only those)
Word count updates live.
Why test only part
- Just the opening: "Does the opening hook?" is the earliest reader-drop point
- Just new chapters: older chapters already tested; check the new ones
- Around a plot turn: see how readers react before and after
Whole vs partial
| Scope | What the report emphasises |
|---|---|
| Whole book | Structural feedback (pacing, arc) |
| First 3 chapters | Opening feedback (hook, worldbuilding setup) |
| Middle | Local feedback (character development, beats) |
Scripts: read as one whole
If the source is a script, the set-up screen doesn't list chapters — instead the whole script is auto-assembled (in the preview format) and read as one unit. There's currently no scene-level or Act-level include / exclude control.
To explore a script's scene structure, see: Script Studio
