Editor and sync issues
Last updated June 10, 2026 · 4 min read
Editor or sync acting up — work through these scenarios in order.

Editor frozen / can't type
1 · Refresh the page
- Web / PWA:
⌘R/Ctrl R - Desktop: fully quit and restart
Most freezes are fixed by a refresh.
2 · Clear the local cache
Slima usually repairs a corrupt cache automatically on startup; if it's still stuck, clear it manually:
- First try a hard refresh:
⌘⇧R/Ctrl ⇧R(reloads, bypassing the cache) - Still stuck → clear this site's data from your browser's own settings, then reload
Clearing the cache doesn't lose data — your books are in the cloud, the local cache is just a cache. It re-pulls from the cloud afterward.
3 · Try a different browser
Slima supports Chrome / Edge / Safari / Firefox. If a different browser works fine → the problem is the original browser (extension interference or a corrupt cache).
4 · Check browser / OS version
Outdated browsers or DOM-modifying extensions can freeze Slima. Confirm:
- Browser updated to the latest version
- Temporarily disable suspicious extensions (especially ones that alter page content)
Sync errors (sync indicator not green / offline)
The sync indicator in the title bar shows your connection state (connected / offline) — it doesn't expand to reveal error details. Common sync situations and what to do:
| Situation | What to do |
|---|---|
| Rate limit | Too many requests — wait a minute or two, auto-retries |
| Server error (5xx) | Slima server temporarily unresponsive — wait a few minutes, auto-retries |
| Session expired | A re-sign-in flow appears; continue after sign-in |
| Conflict | Same file edited on two devices — go to conflict resolution |
Can't see recent writing on another device
Switched devices and the recent content isn't there? Check in order:
- Is the original device's status bar 🟢 green (sync complete)?
- Is the other device signed into the same account?
- Refresh the page on the other device
Actually gone?
Jump to Recover lost text — the four protection layers recover almost everything.
