Deprecated features

Slima keeps evolving — this is the deprecated-features mapping, to keep you from getting confused by older articles or tutorials.

Branch version control
Deprecated: 2026-05
What it was: you could create multiple branches per book (git-like) — e.g. branch off to try a different ending or POV.
Why removed: the branch concept was too close to a developer tool; most writers found it confusing. Linear version history already covers the real need (try a big change → don't like it → roll back).
Use instead: Version history — "restore to a version and continue from there" achieves branching in practice.
AI Agent's five modes (Worldbuild / Ask / Plan / Write / Mystery)
Deprecated: 2026-04
What it was: the AI was split into five separate modes, each with its own prompt.
Why removed: users couldn't tell which mode to use when — it made the AI feel like friction rather than help.
Use instead: AI Coach — a single unified chat interface where the AI figures out what kind of help you need.
Garden / Sanctum naming
Deprecated: 2026-03
What it was: "My Works" was called Garden; "Archive" was called Sanctum.
Why changed: the names were too whimsical; some users found them unclear.
Use instead: standard terms — Works / Archive / Trash.
Other small deprecations
npm install -g slima-mcp(global install) → usenpx -y slima-mcp@0instead, see Migrate from global install
