Credits and quota concepts
Last updated June 2, 2026 · 3 min read
AI Coach / Beta Readers consume credits. This article covers the concept — no formulas, no exact numbers (those at /plans).

Three numbers you'll see
| Number | Where | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Total balance | Account → Usage | Currently usable credits |
| Pre-op estimate | Confirmation dialog before any AI op | "this op will roughly use X" |
| Used | Account → Usage → "Usage Stats" / "History" | This month's spend |
Where credits come from
Sources:
- Subscription plan — your tier grants a batch each week (resets weekly, all tiers)
- Referral rewards — invite a friend, both get credits
- Report Pack add-on — buy extra one-time (Report Pack purchase)
- Trial credits — trial may grant extra
Where credits go
- AI Coach chat — per message
- AI chapter analysis — per analysis
- AI Beta Readers reports — per run
- Slima AI Editor — per pass
- Web search (when enabled) — multiplier
Balance resets
Subscription credits reset weekly — unused doesn't accumulate from one week to the next.
Add-on Report Pack credits don't expire / don't reset.
What happens when balance runs out
Starting an AI op with insufficient credits → the quota confirmation dialog appears:
Estimated for this op: X credits
You have Y
Options:
- Upgrade to [higher tier]
- Buy a Report Pack
- Cancel
