Subscribe / upgrade / downgrade

Upgrade / downgrade both start from Account → Subscription.

Account → Subscription: upgrade / downgrade / cancel all start here; the current plan is marked Current

Upgrade

Free → Starter / Pro

  1. Account → Subscription
  2. Click "Subscribe" on the target tier
  3. Redirect to Stripe Checkout
  4. Enter card, confirm
  5. Done → immediate

Starter and Pro are the two self-serve tiers you can subscribe to from this page.

Starter → Pro

  1. Account → Subscription
  2. Click "Upgrade to Pro"
  3. Confirm the plan change
  4. Prorated, immediate

Moving to Team

Team is not a self-serve checkout tier. On the Team card, the button is "Contact Us" — it opens an email to our support team rather than a Subscribe/Checkout flow. To move onto Team, reach out to us and we'll set it up for you.

Downgrade

Pro / Team → Starter / Free:

  1. Account → Subscription
  2. "Change plan" / Stripe Customer Portal
  3. Pick the lower tier
  4. Takes effect next billing cycle — keep Pro perks this cycle

When changes apply

Action Applies
Upgrade Immediately
Downgrade Next billing cycle
Cancel At end of current cycle

Your data is preserved across all of these

Upgrade, downgrade, or cancel — your data stays:

  • Books, chapters, version history → kept
  • AI chats → kept
  • Reading reports → kept
  • Custom preferences → kept

Pro-only features become unusable after downgrade to Starter, but settings persist — re-upgrade and they're still there.

See subscription status

Account → Subscription shows:

  • Current tier chip
  • Next renewal / cancellation date
  • Monthly / annual price
  • Cancel / change plan buttons
