Multi-device workflow
Last updated May 14, 2026 · 3 min read
One Slima account, multiple devices — desktop, phone, tablet — with books, settings, and AI chats all syncing in real time. A few small things to watch for.

Typical flow
- Writing on desktop Web/PWA — auto-syncs to the cloud (the sync indicator goes green when done)
- Leave desktop, open mobile — Resume Prompt brings you straight back to the chapter / paragraph you were on
- Edit a few lines on mobile — also auto-syncs
- Back on desktop — mobile's edits pull down automatically
Check the sync state before switching
Before hopping to another device, glance at the sync icon in the side panel (next to the book title):
- 🟢 green — synced, safe to switch
- 🔵 blue (spinning) — syncing / pushing, wait a second or two
- 🟠 orange — changes pending push
- ⚪ gray — offline (your edits are buffered locally and push up when the network is back)

Two devices on the same book at once
Supported. You can have the book open on desktop and phone at the same time, reading or writing.
The one thing to avoid is editing the same passage from both sides simultaneously — that triggers the conflict resolver. See: Sync conflicts.
Auto-sync — no save button
Slima syncs as you type — there is no "Save" button.
If you need to force a push (because you're switching devices in a hurry):
- Click the sync icon in the side panel (next to the book title)
Going offline is fine
Any device can keep working offline — local cache buffers every change, and pushes everything up when the network is back. See: Offline writing.
