Interface tour: shelf, editor, right-side chat, toolbar
Five minutes — every big area of the Slima UI, what each button does and why it lives where it does.

After you enter the editor, the screen splits into 4 main regions. Left to right:
1 · Activity bar (far left)
Narrow vertical column — the switcher between Slima's workspaces.

| ⚙️ | Settings |
At the bottom: EN / 繁 language toggle, dark / light mode toggle, your avatar (goes to Account).
2 · File tree (left)
Every file in the current book, grouped by folder. Two built-in folders:
- Chapters — your draft
- Notes — characters, worldbuilding, references
Add more folders as you like. Files drag to reorder, right-click for edit / delete / rename.
See: Files & content
3 · Editor (centre, largest)
The main stage. Markdown editor + floating toolbar.
Top toolbar:
- Heading levels (H1 / H2 / H3)
- Bold / italic / strikethrough
- Lists, quotes, blockquote, table
- Dialogue punctuation (auto-switches to 「」/《》 for CJK books)
- AI image
- Undo / redo
- Word count
Press / inside the editor to open the command palette (search features, switch views).
See: Editor overview · Writing tools
4 · AI Coach (right)
The right-side chat panel. It's already read your book — you don't need to paste context.
Top tabs:
- AI chat — ask the Coach, revise, continue
- AI analysis — four lenses on a chapter
- Chat history — past conversations
Bottom focus topics chips (character motivation / sharpen conflict / scene description / theme) + "Or start from here" chips (I'm stuck / check this / suggest something) — one tap and the Coach takes over.
See: AI Coach
5 · Top toolbar
Tabbed:
- Left side: active chapter tabs (multiple open at once)
- Right side: a split editor icon (two chapters side-by-side)
6 · Status bar (bottom)
Quiet but important:
- Today's word count — the motivation system's headline metric
- Sync state — live / offline / conflict, …
- Selection length — appears when you've highlighted text
Live in the keyboard
Every region is reachable by keyboard — press ⌘K (Mac) or Ctrl K to open the command palette and search everything.
